BEES Elephant Sanctuary Needs Your Help!!!!

BEES Elephant Sanctuary Needs Your Help!!!!

This past weekend BEES – Burm and Emily’s Elephant Sanctuary were struck with major flash flooding, following a week of heavy rains and landslides. The locals are calling it the worst flood in nearly 20 years.

On the last weekend of August 2019, the Town of Maechaem was devastated with flash flooding. When the water finally receded BEES Elephant Sanctuary and the surrounding areas were left scratching the staff and locals heads wondering how we were going to tackle all the damages and the mess of the floods and storms. There was debris everywhere, a lot of soil has eroded and been washed away exposing the cement under the night enclosure posts and exposing piping that delivers fresh water to the elephants water troughs. The heavy rain caused landslides, this allowed Mae Kam and Mae Dok to escape their enclosure. The heavy rains have also done further damage to the dirt road that runs through BEES Elephant Sanctuary. The road through the Sanctuary is more damaged now then ever before. For years BEES Elephant Sanctuary have wanted to cement it but have not had the funding, it’s become a desperate need to cement the so that they can continue to deliver the loads of elephant feed to the night shelters.

Let’s Help them continue to be able to do what they do!

Right now they are working on fixing damages the best they can by placing gravel and soil on the dirt road and doing small cement jobs over pipes and as enclosure reinforcements and welding more metal to the back of the night enclosure to support the fencing and make sure the elephants are unable to escape or damage the fencing further.

With your help, we can raise these funds so that when dry season comes we can have the funding needed so BEES Elephant Sanctuary can create long term solutions such as creating a barrier on the banks of the stream to stop further erosion (e.g. Gabion Baskets or some kind of enforcement) and cementing the road through BEES Elephant Sanctuary etc.

We would like to raise around 300,000THB/ 9,800USD to make these repairs and improvements.
